My name is Brown Ene, and I wish to share a story that has become part of my driving force towards the journey to transforming the current state of affairs of the Actors Guild, Enugu State Chapter.
Growing up, I was attracted to the movie industry watching the likes of legendary Pete Edochie, Nkem Owoh (Osuofia), Steve Ebo (Ajebo), Patience Ozokwo (mama gee), Mr. Ibu whom are all members of Enugu State Chapter of the Actors Guild, plus many other veterans from the Eastern part of the country and beyond, interestingly, majority of whom began their acting career here in Enugu, the coal city.
These enlisted veterans through the Guild, has shaped and affected my career both directly and indirectly.
Worthy of note is the obvious fact that AGN Enugu State Chapter used to be the numero uno chapter of the guild and unarguably the prime destination for actors plus record breaking and chart topping Nollywood blockbusters like, Igodo, Rattle Snake, Nneka The Pretty Serpent, Amadas, Glamour Girls, Violated, Domitilla, True Confessions to mention but a few, back in the 90s.
Today I look and wonder, what happened? Where and how did we get it all wrong? What of our veterans, what are they are upto? Why the regression? Many pertinent questions that constantly beg for answers.
This has formed the crux of my mantra:
Call: Actors Guild Enugu Chapter?
Response: Must be great again!
You might ask, how do I intend to make AGN Enugu Chapter great again? How do we bridge the gap, level up and surpass what other chapters like Lagos, Abuja, Imo, Awka etc have attained over recent years?
