NEW NIGERIAN DIVA CRUISES INTO SECOND SEASON

After a successful maiden edition, an event which held at a well appointed venue, the Concorde Hotel, in Owerri, Imo State in December last year, the organizers of New Nigerian Diva is set for its second season.

The three – in – one event; reality show, beauty pageant and talent hunt is aimed at discovering and nurturing talents inherent in young female Nigerians in the areas of acting, modelling and singing, thereby helping them actualize their dreams by providing them with the requisite platform to leverage on.

According to the Executive Producer of the show who doubles as the CEO of Viewtrend Entertainment Limited, Mr. Dozie Eboh, this year's edition promises to be more exciting and extremely engaging. He also stated that the stakes are higher this time as the star prize is a plot of land in Lagos state (which is sponsored by Prestige Virtue Court and publishers of Royalty International Magazine) modelling contracts, a return ticket to a foreign country of choice plus recording deals

The future awards 2012 have come and gone! But, interestingly this years edition had a whole lot of nominees in most of the categories unlike the previous editions. For those that did not know, The Future Awards season 7 was hosted by Rivers State Government, in Port Harcourt and held on Sunday, August 26, 2012.

Obviously, the stakes were higher as a few categories where introduced, like "The Best Use of New Media" which had "GIDI TRAFFIC" clinching the award, beating 9 others to it.

Surprisingly, my dear LINDA IKEJI, the sole administrator of the ever popular lindaikeji.blogspot.com and unarguably one of the finest blogger of our time, did not win an award! I honestly thought she deserves the award for young person of the year, but, the judges and may be, just may be, the online voters too, did not share my opinion. Well, its all good.

She successfully revamped Miss Nigeria beauty pageant which was rested after the 2004 edition which saw Miss Edi Lawani crowned as Miss Nigeria that year, Chief Nike Osinowo Soleye has after six long years, in 2010 and 2011, staged two successive editions of the then coveted pageant.

From the news reaching us at V & nT MEDIA, the former beauty queen (Miss Nigeria, 2001), now married to Dr. Tunde Soleye, has been mandated by Daily Times Nigeria, the official brand and copyright owners of the pageant, to step aside as chief host.

 Daily Times Nigeria concluded and terminated their contractual agreement and hosting rights with Mrs Soleye as far back as November 2011, but the development was kept in hush tones while the reasons was not made public.

Former Chief Host, Chief Nike Osinowo-Soleye is yet to be replaced, little wonder why the pageant might suffer a setback this year.

An official of Dana Airlines who pleaded anonymous confirmed that the ill-fated Dana plane had persistent history of faults with its hydraulics in recent times and it was not supposed to have flown. 
She said the plane developed fault after it left Lagos and stopped in Calabar.

FUEL TANKER EXPLOSION ROCKS MILE 2 AREA OF LAGOS; 30 feared dead...

Tragedy struck in the early hours of Saturday, February 18, 2012 when a (33,000 litre capacity) Tanker full of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) which was coming from Cele – Ijesha and headed towards Mile 2 crashed into one of the loops along Mile 2 bridge resulting to a terrible fire outbreak.

It appeared the tanker’s (Reg. No. XB 370 ATN) brakes failed and the driver lost control and upon trying very hard to bring the truck to a halt, collided and caused mayhem in the area. It has been reported that well over 30 vehicles were burnt including some transport companies vehicles, and many lives lost.

She was interviewed by the crew of African Voices at her beautiful apartment located at Knightsbridge in the UK.

The eponymously named Knightsbridge is the district where some of the super-duper rich of London resides, it comprises of the south of Hyde Park, the east of South Kensington and West of Sloane Street. It is known to be an ultra-expensive residential area.

GOVERNOR ROCHAS OKOROCHA ON...FREE EDUCATION IN IMO STATE

The Executive Governor of Imo State, Owele Rochas Okorocha has before now declared free Education in Primary and Secondary school and now, Tertiary.

Also, Imo State students by Origin, according to the Governor will be entitled to the sum of N100, 000.00 per annum as scholarship. Polytechnics; OND and HND, N60, 000.00 and N80, 000.00 respectively. While, primary school students will get N25, 000.00 per annum.

Likable comedian, Emmanuel Adigwe, D’Lectura, is making another intelligent move in the comedy industry. The Banking and Finance graduate  of Auchi Polytechnic, Edo State, whose decision to veer into comedy was like a dream come through, is once again pulling heavy weights in the comedy industry to Akute, a border town between Lagos and Ogun. 

LAFF OUT LOUD

Speaking with ON POINT! on the show tagged “Laugh Out Loud with D’Lectura and Friends”, the upwardly mobile young man revealed that though Akute is a small town, residents of the area need not travel as far as the Island to catch fun. That, according to him was the idea behind “Laugh Out Loud” (LOL).

D’ Lectura is widely known as the organizer of another popular comedy show in that area tagged, Lafta 101.

Meanwhile, “Laugh Out Loud” will parade other comedians like, SEYI LAW, MR PATRICK, FUNNYBONE, AKPORORO, GUV'NOR(ABUJA BASED COMEDIAN), EBOH BOMB, CRAZYLEGS. Music acts on the bill are,  K - CHOICE, LAMBOGHINI and ''AM IN LOVE'' crooner, HARRISONG will be at hand to supply quality music. The for only a hundred executive guests.

NYSC TO STOP POSTING OF CORPERS TO URBAN AREAS

 The Minister of Youth Development, Alhaji Bolaji Abdullai, said yesterday that from next year, 2013, the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) will start posting corps members to rural areas ONLY, with no provision for redeployment. Corpers will no longer be posted to banks and pre-arranged places; only farms, schools, hospitals in the villages, and etc.
